News from OPC October 2026

Welcome to our new Parish Clerk

We are delighted to announce that Gabe Han has been appointed as the new Parish Clerk,

taking over from our longstanding clerk, Alyson. They will work together until mid-

November. Please join us in welcoming Gabe!

Memorial Garden Improvements

Thanks to a remaining balance from a Surrey County Council grant, we plan to plant bulbs

and shrubs in the Memorial Garden and tidy the area around the War Memorial ahead of

Remembrance Sunday. Our thanks to Clare Bevan for her planting advice and to Cllr Booth

for securing the original grant.

Alms Heath Planning Inquiry

The Inquiry into the refused planning application at Alms Heath took place recently.

Uncertainty over some land ownership matters means further information has been

requested by the Inspector by early November. Guildford Borough Council’s legal team will

then have an opportunity to respond before the Inquiry formally closes. A decision on the

appeal is expected in the new year, potentially as late as February. We will share further

updates as they become available.

Parish Council Audit Completed

The audit for the financial year ending April 2026 has now concluded, and the relevant

information is available on our website. Many thanks to Peter Bevan and Alyson for their

hard work.

Remembrance Sunday – 8th November

Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November this year. Details of the service will be shared

by All Saints’ Church in due course.
