Flood Forum with Neighbouring Parishes – Ockham Parish Council has set up a Flood Forum Meetings with Neighbouring Parishes, Chaired by Zoe Franklin, MP. In attendance will be representatives from Ockham Parish Council, Neighbouring Parishes, Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough Council, Thames Water and the Environmental Agency. The Councillors taking a lead for Ockham are Chloe Shepherdly and Rebecca Neish.
The first Meeting is on Friday 22nd March and the plan is to hold 3 meetings per year as well as a walk around. Next meeting is on 20th September 2024. Full information will be posted on the Ockham Parish Website in advance of the meetings.
Objective of the Forum:
- The aim of the Flood forum is to pull together the activities of the various Flood Risk Agencies, gather information and knowledge about the factors affecting the flood risks in Ockham and to support the development of local improvements within our area.
- Ockham and the surrounding areas has a history of serious and repeated flooding, and is recognised by Surrey County Council as a flood risk area of a medium – high risk level.

- To do so a postcode has been entered, you will see the option ‘View a map of the risk of flooding from rivers and the sea’ where you can view the flood risk in an area, such as Ockham
How can Residents help with reporting flood issues:
All residents should personally report all flooding issues, helful links on who to contact and the appropriate Authority are listed below:

- If there is any sign of sewage, to call your water provider Thames Water: 0800 316 9800 or Southern Water: 0330 303 0368 as appropriate.
- Riparain responsibility – please be aware that if you have a ditch close to your home, you may be responsible for maintaining it.
